Kit Murphy McNally
Executive Director

Cindy Nicholson
Operations Manager
I joined the Benedict Center team in 1997.  I was drawn to the Center because of its mission and how it relates with my work, volunteer and personal experiences. I’ve worked for Milwaukee County for the chairperson of the Milwaukee County Board’s Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee, as well as in administration at private businesses. I have had first-hand experience watching a family member drift in and out of the criminal justice system in a vicious cycle that tears apart relationships and opportunities. I am proud to be a part of such a passionate, dedicated, giving team all working for justice and social change.

Donna Hietpas
Program Director, Women's Harm Reduction Program
I've been with the Benedict Center for since 1990.  I was first drawn to this agency because of its work as an advocate for women in corrections.  Being here allows me to follow a work path that matches my own values in the area of women's rights.

I am extremely lucky because I know that at the Benedict Center I am not alone. I am part of a group of people who passionately work for real justice in every area of Milwaukee's criminal justice system.  Working with the women in our program has taught me a lot about human strength and resilience.  The women come to us with amazing burdens, but also come filled with hope that they can overcome and create better lives for themselves and their families. They give me inspiration every day.

David Peters
Coordinator of Academic Instruction
On a daily basis I have the opportunity to encourage the discouraged, often by calling their attention to small successes that they themselves have overlooked.  The Benedict Center Women's Harm Reduction Program is like a greenhouse in which optimal conditions facilitate the growth of the seed that is each woman's potential. I find being a part of it both challenging and exciting.

Coordinator of Deferred Prosecution Monitoring

Janet Miller
Program Assistant
I am a retired educator from Milwaukee Public Schools.  I started at the BC as a volunteer tutor and became the Program Assistant in September 2008.  One of my favorite responsibilities is teaching our parenting class. I thoroughly enjoy working with the women and watching their self-confidence grow as they move through the program.  They emerge as healthy, responsible moms with strong positive relationships with their children.

Peggy MacArthur
Grants and Communications Manager
I joined the staff in October 2009, and I knew at once that the Benedict Center was where I was meant to be.  I am proud to be in a position where I can help spread the word of our good work, tell the stories of women who are working to build new lives for themselves and share our efforts to bring about justice throughout the community.  I love to be in a place where, regardless of our diverse backgrounds or individual jobs, we are family, supporting and caring for each other.

Mary Pat Utech
Bookkeeper
When I started as a tutor at the Benedict Center, I knew this was where I wanted to spend my volunteer time.  Working with the women here has given me so much more than I could ever give to them.  I admire their resolve to change their lives against tremendous odds.  I am thrilled to be a small positive part of their lives.

Sisters Project Coordinator

Genene Williams
Sisters Project Outreach Worker
I am excited to be working at the benedict Center doing street outreach. It gives me a chance to give back what was given to me -- HOPE.  There was a time when I gave up and people at the Benedict Center pulled me through.  Now I want to be that someone to pull someone else through.

Shavon Pope
Sisters Project Outreach Worker
There are so many women out there that I can relate to.  I look at them and I see me, or I see a relative or friend that I've lost to the streets or death.  My love for life and for myself has been rekindled with help from the loving, kindness, caring and perseverance of the people at the Benedict Center.  The truth of the matter is I just want to give back what was given to me because I was that woman out there and I would like for that woman out there to know that the door swings both ways.  She can be me!
