Community-Based Services

We believe that individuals with substance abuse disorders, mental illness and trauma should get the treatment and support they need without having to go through the criminal justice system.

The Benedict Center helps women in the community connect with treatment and support services:

  • The Sisters Program Drop-In Centers and Street Outreach offers the opportunity for women in the street-based sex trade, where substance abuse and trauma are prevalent, to connect with life-saving services.
  • The Women's Harm Reduction Program also offers counseling to women through Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), a voluntary program of Milwaukee County Health Department. This provides a recovery-focused, integrated behavioral health program for adults with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders. CCS provides a coordinated, comprehensive, community-based array of recovery services, treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation services.
  • When Benedict Center participants successfully complete their legal obligations in the criminal justice system, they are still welcome to continue in our programs on a voluntary basis.
